A Blast from the Past - a Video Trip Down Memory Lane

Found some old videosIt's all Michal's fault. I was going to spend the weekend thinking about yard work, lounging around, picking my nose, farting and catching flies. Michal called me with a simple request of digitizing an old VHS tape. I tried to say no - "I don't know if my old VCR works…", "I don't think I have the cables…", etc. Being the good, guilt ridden father that I am, I did go find that old VCR and Saturday afternoon went on a trip down memory lane.

Spring in February! That's Even Crazy for L.B.

Spring in Long BeachSure it was raining a few days ago. And yes we expect some rains again this week. Ok it's not all that warm for SoCal and there is lots of snow in the mountains, we like to keep our snow in it's rightful place. But, all the plants in my yard think it's full blown Spring.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling and it's all wet

The National Weather Service is forecasting major rain for all of next week. They say it could be as bad as the el Nino rains of 1997. The forecast is for up to 16 inches of rain in the foothills by the end of the week. That's a lot for this part of the country. We get an average of just under 3 inches for the whole month and it's one of our wetter months. How serious are we taking this:

"County officials plan to close mountain thoroughfares, including Angeles Forest Highway, Big Tujunga Canyon Road and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, at 4 a.m. Sunday. The roads will reopen after the storm systems pass. Dozens of residents who live in mountain hamlets accessible by the roads have been urged to evacuate."

Dogs, Dogs as Far as the Eye Can See

Long Beach Convention Center for the 2009 AKC/Eukanuba National ChampionshipsOn Sunday Rachel, Margo and me went to the Long Beach Convention Center for the 2009 AKC/Eukanuba National Championships. This was our first time ever at a dog show. Rachel was very exited and she had high expectations of what it was going to be like. I don't think it lived up to that and I'm glad because it's like your first Star Trek convention - you don't want to get addicted.

Holidays and All

Been busy getting this and several other sites in order. Didn't realize how much detail was involved but things are starting to work themselves out. It doesn't help that this is the crazy season with the Holidays and all.

I'm hoping to have I Like This, Top Doctor, Upgrade Daddy and Classes at Gra Fika Graphics done and ready by the new year. At least ready for content if not all fleshed out. Joomla and Green Geeks seem to be working well for me so far.

It's feast or famine - I'll be teaching again next semester, teaching a lot, 1 am class, 1 at night - hard but teaching is something I miss.
So half a day and a morning later I put up 13 old videos at http://ilikethis.com/current/. They're mostly of Michal and it serves him right.
Got an old VCR to work for Michał. Digitizing old VHS tape. Funny stuff but I don't think Michał will be happy about getting me to do this.
Dominican breakfast at Mamá Fina. Feel a nap coming on but I need to work off the: - mangu, queso frito, longaniza salami and morir soñando.
Half the day assembling Rachel's new bed and desk. Moving into Tasia's old digs. Asleep in her new full size bed she now looks so tinny.
