I Like This - A Personal View

I Like Going Places Almost as Much as Being There.

It's a Real City

Living in the L.A. area makes you forget what a "real" city is like. The kind of place where lots of shops, restaurants, galleries are all packed together within walking or at least easy public transport range. Real cities stack the inhabitants vertically not side by side in a vast, sprawling, never ending, suburb. It's not that I don't love Long Beach and the lovely, if slightly sterile, neighborhood where we live. It's not like I'm planing to move, but, a real city offers the kind of sensory exuberance that I sometimes miss.

The California chapter of NSPRA - CALSPRA - is hosting the annual national conference in San Francisco. Margo is on the board of CALSPRA and I decided to tag along. We have been to the bay area many times. What with family and friends we know Marin and Walnut Creek area well, but, we seem to never get a chance to hang out in the city - and after all - it is one of the top 10 great cities of the US.

...and small, human powered, boats.

Airfare, especially for 4 people and on a long trip, costs a lot. I personally don't know of any better way, than through the various online outlets, to buy tickets. I'm still very cautious and I tried to do all the necessary home work. Still, even though I was satisfied with the deal I got, I kept wondering and checking if there wasn't yet another, better deal out there for me.
